Fire safety is often overlooked, especially in the home. Would you know how to tackle a fire or be able to help somebody who had caught fire? Make sure you have a Fire Blanket. Fire Blankets are good to use on fat pan fires on the cooker or for wrapping round someone whose clothing is on fire. Never use an extinguisher on a fat or oil pan fire or use water on fat an or electrical fires, use a Fire Blanket. They're ideal to keep in the kitchen, but they aren't good for general use. only one type of powder and one type of foam is suitable for having at home. No single type of fire extinguisher is totally effective on every kind of fire. So before buying one, it's vital to look carefully at what kinds of fires it can be used on. Remember, don't attempt to use a fire extinguisher on a fire unless you feel it is safe for you to do so. Get your fire extinguisher serviced once a year or as the manufacturer recommends.

High visibility clothing is any clothing worn that has highly reflective properties or a color that is distinct from any background. Yellow maintenance vests are a good example of High visibility clothing. Part of the surface of clothes may be made retroreflective (small parts of coats, large parts of special safety clothes for rescue workers etc.). This way they become much more visible in the dark for observers near a light source, such as the driver of a car with its headlights on. The pattern of the retroreflecting parts also helps to distinguish between objects and people. For greater visibility at daytime, as well as for decoration, very bright colors are obtained with fluorescence. People working near traffic, mobile plant or equipment are regularly exposed to potential hazards, with the serious risk of impact. High visibility clothing, as a form of personal protective equipment, does not establish a safe system of work in itself. In the order of control measures, high visibility clothing is among the least effective methods of controlling the risks associated with working near traffic, mobile plant or equipment under operator control. You should only consider the use of this clothing if, after implementing other controls, some risk to the worker still remains (e.g. emergency and other services working adjacent to traffic) or when other control measures are impractical.
